Dradenau Combined Heat and Power Plant — Laser Scanning Support

Combined Heat & Power PlantProject
Hamburg, GermanyLocation

The situation

ENKA İnşaat, the international contractor building the Dradenau Combined Heat and Power Plant in Hamburg for Uniper, engaged Intera Survey for laser scanning and as-built survey support on the site — a large gas-turbine CHP facility replacing an older coal-fired plant.

The approach

The same Total Station + FARO workflow we use on every industrial site anchors the capture here, scaled to a site with dense structural steel, piping, and process equipment across an active, multi-year construction programme.

The outcome

This is an ongoing engagement rather than a finished case study — our scanning support continues to feed accurate as-built and progress data into the project as construction advances.

Questions about this project

Is this project finished?
No — the Dradenau CHP plant is a large, multi-year build still under construction; our scanning support continues as the project progresses.
What did Intera Survey actually do on this project?
Laser scanning and as-built survey support for the general contractor — capturing accurate, current site geometry the project team can plan and coordinate against.
Why does a project this size need laser scanning?
At this scale — structural steel, piping, and equipment across a live industrial site — manual measurement can't keep pace with construction; scanning gives the project an accurate baseline whenever it's needed.
Is this the largest project you've worked on?
It's toward the larger end of what we take on, but the underlying method is the same one we use on every industrial site, scaled to the site's size — see the Industrial Plant Scan to BIM page.
Can I see photos of this project?
Not yet — this is a real, ongoing engagement, and photos will be added here once we're able to share them.
