LiDAR
LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is the underlying technology that measures distance by timing how long a laser pulse takes to reflect off a surface and return to the sensor.
It's the physical measurement principle behind every FARO scan we capture — the point cloud is what you get once millions of individual LiDAR distance measurements are combined with the scanner's rotational position.
